We are very excited to announce the newest addition to the Sight Line Provisioners team - Keith Rose-Innes!
Often referred to as the George Clooney of fly fishing, Keith Rose-Innes is one of those anglers whose journey is captivating to hear about. It was Keith and few other South Africans that pioneered the Seychelles archipelago and identified what is probably the world's best saltwater flats fishery. Many will recognize Keith as the owner of the legendary Alphonse Fishing Company in the Seychelles where he spends the majority of his time. But he didn't get there by accident.
Keith grew up in South Africa, learning fly casting from his Scottish grandfather and inventing many new flies along the way. Always captivated by fishing, he spent years competing in land-based fishing tournaments and working in a bait shop. As chance would have it, when Keith was in his teens his father brought him along on a trip to the Seychelles. They left him on shore to explore the flats, and a fascination was born.
Fast forward a few years and Keith is working at the London based fly shop/ travel agency Farlows and playing semi professional rugby. From here he takes an opportunity to guide for Atlantic salmon on the world famous Ponoi River.
At this point, he knows what an incredible fishery is waiting in the Seychelles, and has figured out a system to put together bespoke trips. By talking to his Ponoi clients, Keith is able to bring a consistent stream of clients to the Seychelles. Word spreads, and the rest is history.
Now, Alphonse Fishing Co is one of the most premiere destinations in all of fly fishing, taking clients to remote islands all over the Seychelles with 5 star accommodations and 10 star fishing. AFC operates under a strict conservation policy, strictly limiting the amount of rods each week and rotating fishing grounds often.
"A fish is much more valuable alive than dead" says Keith. His favorite SLP item? The permit cuff.
